For summer 2014, have decided to keep Roanoke Linux Users Group as an online community with this web site and scheduled sessions on IRC.

Starting June 25 at 9:00 pm, join in the #roalug IRC channel on irc.freenode.net

As the group develops some membership, can look into a meeting facility sometime this fall (open for suggestions).

Hope to see you on IRC!

Just registered a new channel on the Freenode IRC network for the group. Using your favorite IRC client connect to irc.freenode.net and join #roalug. Or on the web, visit http://webchat.freenode.net/

Planning to schedule a regular weekly chat to discuss how to get things organized for the group.

More to follow soon!

Looking forward to summer and planning how to organize this users group. Preliminary thoughts:

  • Creating something over on Meetup.com - there are a few other technical groups in Roanoke, but not a Linux specific group
  • Already have a page over on Google+ - Would virtual meetings using Hangouts be of interest?
  • Possibly schedule regular meetings on IRC?

Please post comments and suggestions!
