For Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, the Hardware Enablement Stack (HWE) support ends on August 7, 2014. What does this mean? What do you need to do?

Now that the newest Ubuntu (Trusty Tahr 14.04 LTS) version is available, support for the past LTS version is going to a different phase.  Users will begin to be prompted with a message stating that "New hardware support is available."   Clicking the "Install" button will provide additional information along with an option to "Upgrade" in the lower right corner of the window. After the download and installation, a reboot will be required.

Of course, options are available to go ahead and do an entire upgrade to 14.04 LTS. More to follow on that topic!
